After two years of decline due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the wedding season is in full swing, and celebrations are expected to be more significant. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) predicts that more than 32 lakh weddings will take place between November 14 and December 14.
Considering that larger weddings incur greater costs, the CAIT predicts that the wedding market will generate about Rs 3.75 lakh crore in trade during this period.
The research indicates that 3.5 lakh weddings are anticipated in Delhi alone. PTI estimates that approximately 1.5 lakh weddings will occur in Rajasthan in November, the highest number in over two years.
This year’s wedding industry expansion
According to a separate survey conducted by WeddingWire India, the Indian subsidiary of The Knot Worldwide, 42.5% of wedding suppliers’ monthly profits will exceed pre-crisis levels.
The company recently surveyed over 220 wedding vendors. This year, approximately 31% of vendors have increased their prices.
“A guest list of 100 to 250 is now the norm for 34% of couples and families. Theme-based and personalized weddings are the newest wedding industry trends. Additionally, couples are increasingly drawn to eco-friendly options for their wedding day,” the survey found.
Weddingz.in, an online wedding platform, has recently identified new trends in the wedding industry based on its most recent Trend Survey, conducted in October 2022. 63% of millennials are embracing digitization and planning their weddings online rather than taking the traditional route, according to current trends.
Despite being predominantly unorganized, a 2016 KPMG study titled Market Study of Online Matrimony and Marriage Services in India estimated that the Indian wedding market was worth Rs 3.68 trillion.
